Cruz Barnett doesn't believe in the occult or demons.
As a Theology student, Cruz is two semesters away from graduating and going into a field he knows he’ll enjoy—the Reclamation of Religious Documents. However, to do so, he must first complete a historical theories course dedicated to secret societies. To pass the course, Cruz and his teammates must summon a demon they’re not sure exists and present them to the class.
As the go-between for the human and demon realm, Mephistopheles has made bargains for thousands of years, extending contracts to those worthy of the Nemesis name—until now.
When Cruz and his team summon Mephistopheles, the demon can smell the devil's blood running through Cruz’s veins. If the leaders of the eight realms uncover the truth about Cruz, they’ll kill the half-blood abomination to bring balance back to the realms.
Accepting his demon lineage means Cruz must confront a past he never knew existed in order to escape his death sentence. Yet, trusting a demon the church indoctrinated him to hate won’t be easy. Except, what other choice does he have?
There’s always a price to be paid when striking a deal with a bargaining demon, but what happens when the cost outweighs the reward?
